This course aims to stimulate an interest in Biology and develop an understanding of biological principles and their application. It emphasises the social and applied aspects of Biology, and how the subject contributes to the needs of society. It is essential for students who wish to pursue careers in biological sciences and medicine. Many students who started Biology for general interest have found the course stimulating and have gone on to further study. A level units are Unit 4 - Central concepts, Unit 5 - Applications of genetics, Unit 6 - Unifying concepts.

College provides monitoring progress - students can monitor their own progress against national targets using their Progress Tracker. University guidance is provided. Career guidance is available. Learning Resource Centre contains the main books and resources needed to support and provide a quiet space for private study during study periods and lunchtimes. There are 9 seminar rooms. ICT facilities and internet access are available. The common room provides a place to relax. There is a pool table, a stereo, vending machines, canteen and plenty of seating.
